“Citizen Data in Action: Measuring Impact and Telling Stories that Matter” Toolkit

The Citizen Data in Action: Measuring Impact and Telling Stories that Matter Toolkit, developed by the United Nations Collaborative on Citizen Data, is a practical resource designed to help organizations better capture, measure, and communicate the impact of citizen data. Although citizen data is increasingly used to inform decision-making and amplify community voices, its impact can often be under-documented. This toolkit provides step-by-step guidance to help citizen data practitioners assess the impact of their initiatives and translate that evidence into clear, credible, and compelling impact stories. By integrating impact assessment and storytelling—two areas that are often treated separately—the toolkit enables practitioners not only to understand what has changed, but also to communicate why that change matters.
